As in music, there is something I enjoy in photography when all the extra parts get stripped away. With photos, the extra parts that can distract are color. You remove color and you are left with shapes and shadows. I think this photo does a good job of communicating that the music was acoustic and sort of raw. Black and white photography is a complicated thing to master because as a photographer I can't hide behind the distraction of colors just like Jesse in this photo wasn't hiding behind electronically processed sounds. There was a time where black and white was the norm and to me, that is real art. It's like a writer who writes with a pen and paper rather than their computer. It's a new sort of challenge but both can produce stunning results. Anyway, this is the last of the daily shots for the weekend but there will be many, many more from the retreat posted within the next week. Keep your eyes peeled!
